For over 50 years, the schoolyard at Washington Irving School has been paved in asphalt. The Irving Schoolyard Project seeks to transform this blight — 80,000 square feet of blacktop — into a safe and environmentally-responsible recreation area that will yield benefits for the entire community.
The Irving Schoolyard Project is a community-based effort led by the Irving PTO. Made up of volunteers from the Irving community, teachers, staff, local architects and engineers, the project is planning a major update of Irving’s entire exterior space.
