The Irving Schoolyard project is at a crucial stage in our fundraising efforts and have started to pursue additional support from public as well as private funding sources. An important part of this process is being able to show the incredible community support this project already has. To that end, we started an online petition that we hope you will be willing to add your name to. Besides adding your own name, please spread the word on Facebook, Twitter or through email, to your own network of friends (just use the share buttons below). The...

Park District Board Presentation

The Irving Schoolyard project will be presenting to the Park District of Oak Park on March 1st. We would love to have a turnout of supporters at this meeting that reflects the incredible level of support this project has in the community. The Park District does not own the land at Irving and their participation would be very unusual.  This is just an informational meeting for the PD board and no funding decisions will be made at the meeting or until the next budget cycle begins. March 1st, 7:30 PM at the Oak Park Conservatory. PLEASE PLAN...

Solar Panels Installed at Irving

A group of local parents raised about $13,000 for the panels during a June 2011 fundraising race called the Chicago Ragnar relay, by running from Madison, Wisconsin back to Chicago. These funds were added to a grant awarded to Irving from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation on May 13, 2011. The grant ended up funding $8000 of the total cost of the project with the rest coming from the private funds raised by the community. The roof-mounted panels are located at the South end of school for a nearly – but not 100% –...
